Randy Villegas Leads Republican David Valadao in CA-22 in New Poll

Bakersfield, CA – Randy Villegas is leading Republican incumbent David Valadao 48-44 in a new poll out this week. This adds to the continued momentum for Villegas, coming just days after the campaign announced outraising Valadao and nonpartisan national race raters shifted the race in Villegas’ direction.

“Working people in the Central Valley are demanding a new voice in Congress who will actually represent our interests,” Randy Villegas said. “Everyday, we are talking to people who are fed up with politicians from both parties who have failed us. Valadao went to D.C. and forgot about us, voting to cut our healthcare to hand tax breaks to billionaires. Working people across the Valley have had enough of Valadao selling us out. I’ll be ready to deliver for our communities on day one.”

Some key findings from the poll include:

  • Villegas leads Valadao on the initial ballot test: In an initial head-to-head matchup, Villegas leads Valadao 48% to 44%.

  • Villegas continues to lead after voters learn more about the candidates: After voters hear positive biographies of both candidates, Villegas maintains his advantage, leading Valadao 49% to 45%.

  • Valadao is underwater with district voters: Valadao posts a 41% favorable to 47% unfavorable image, for a net favorability of -6.

  • Villegas boasts a strong favorability advantage in the district: Villegas earns a 37% favorable to 28% unfavorable rating, giving him a +9 net favorability.

  • Donald Trump is deeply underwater in CA-22: Trump's favorability rating stands at 42% favorable to 57% unfavorable, giving him a net favorability of -15 points.
