AOC’s endorsement comes following the DCCC’s decision to meddle in CA-22’s primary

Kern County, CA – Today, Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (NY-14) announced her endorsement of Randy Villegas in California’s 22nd district. The endorsement comes just a week after the Democratic Congressional Campaign’s decision to put their thumb on the scale in the Central Valley by endorsing a Latino in this Latino majority district.

Earlier this week, a new poll showed Randy Villegas leading the DCCC’s handpicked candidate, Jasmeet Bains, 25 percent to 21 percent.

• AOC joins Senator Bernie Sanders, Congresswoman Nanette Barragán, Congressman Ro Khanna, Dolores Huerta, the Congressional Progressive Caucus, BOLD PAC, and the California School Employees Association (CSEA).

• Following the DCCC’s decision to undercut Latino representation in a district that is 75% Latino, Randy Villegas has seen an outpouring of contributions from individual donors and gained key endorsements. 

• Last week all four County Democratic Party Chairs in CA-22 pushed back against the DCCC’s endorsement of Bains.
