SEIU California Announces Support For Randy Villegas In California’s 22nd Congressional District
Bakersfield, CA – Today, the Villegas For Congress campaign announced the endorsement of SEIU California, representing SEIU local unions across California including in the Central Valley.
SEIU California represents over 750,000 working people including nurses, healthcare workers, janitors, social workers, security officers, in-home caregivers, school and university employees, court workers, and city, county and state employees. These are working people who provide essential work to keep our state and our country running.
“SEIU California is proud to support Randy Villegas, a union man from a working class background to represent us in Congress," said Riko Mendez, Chief Elected Officer of SEIU 521 and Executive Board Members of SEIU California State Council. “We’re 750,000 members strong across California including members in the Central Valley. Our members deserve a voice in Congress who will fight to bring down the growing costs of healthcare, gas, and groceries. Randy will fight for us, not the billionaires and corporate freeloaders who are trying to buy politicians.”
Randy is the labor endorsed candidate, as SEIU California joins the California Teachers Association, National Nurses United, United Farm Workers, and other labor unions who have endorsed his campaign for Congress.
“As a proud union member myself, I’m honored for the endorsement and support of SEIU California” Randy Villegas said. “Working people in the Central Valley are struggling with high costs, loss of healthcare, and a lack of investment in our communities. Meanwhile, David Valadao has prioritized giving tax breaks for billionaires and his corporate donors at our expense. In Congress I’ll fight to reverse Valdao’s healthcare cuts which will leave nearly 70,000 Valley residents without healthcare and nearly $90 million dollars in cuts to hospitals across our district.”
