ICYMI: Misleading Attack Ads From Bains’ Dark Money Friends Don’t Pass A Fact Check
Kern County, CA – A new fact check from KGET of various misleading attack ads against Central Valley native and Congressional candidate, Randy Villegas, finds inaccuracies in the claims. The ads, which are part of a $500,000 blitz and $750,000 blitz in attack ads from various outside groups, seek to inflame viewers' concerns about victims of assault.
In part, KGET’s analysis of these misleading ads found that:
The ads claim the school board approved multi-million settlements instead of taking the sexual abuse lawsuits to trial attempting to “keep the community in the dark forever” by including clauses that bar victims from speaking out.
True? Not quite.
A legal expert who spoke to KGET was critical of these attack ads:
“It’s really concerning to us when we see political advertisements – politicians – that are taking the trauma that somebody’s experienced in their battle to win justice in the legal system and exploiting that in misleading fashion, essentially using the victim as a prop to try to score political points,” he told the station.
“It’s common for political campaigns to make things ugly and nasty and personal, but some things are sacred,” the legal expert said. “Some things should be out of bounds and that includes victims of sexual abuse.”
The barrage of misleading attacks against Villegas from these outside groups come as voters have started casting their ballots, and as a recent poll shows Villegas leading the DCCC’s handpicked candidate Jasmeet Bains 25% to 21%.

As a local and school board trustee Randy has delivered for working families by standing up for the best interests of our children. As the only Latino and only Democrat on the school board, Randy has worked across the aisle to get things done. Now, Randy is running for Congress to stand up for other hard-working families who he sees falling through the cracks on David Valadao’s watch.
