Randy Villegas Holds Sizable Fundraising Lead in CA-22 Primary
Villegas Now Clear Front Runner to Take on Republican David Valadao
Kern County, CA – Following the release of quarterly fundraising numbers, Randy Villegas is now the fundraiser leader in the Democratic primary in California’s 22nd Congressional District, having raised $226,000 more than his opponent Assemblywoman Jasmeet Bains so far this election.
This quarter, Villegas raised $373,861, while being the only candidate to reject corporate PAC money in the race. This is the most that any Democratic candidate has raised in a single quarter in this primary election so far. By comparison, Bains raised $299,671 this quarter.
Throughout the campaign, Villegas has raised $875,948 so far, rapidly outpacing Bains’ $649,821 fundraising total. Over 30% of Villegas’ contributions come from small-dollar (less than $200) donors, whereas only 12% of Bains’ contributions are from small-dollar donors.
Remarkably, Villegas has accomplished this thanks to his grassroots donors. He has taken $0 from corporations unlike his opponents, who have been bankrolled over their careers from many of the same corporations ripping off working families like PG&E, UnitedHealth, and Comcast. Randy is committed to fighting for the people of the Valley, not corporate interests.
“This campaign is fueled by people who believe in a Central Valley where every voice is heard, every opportunity is within reach, and every family can thrive,” said Randy Villegas. “We’re building a movement, and I’m so grateful for each and every person who’s helping us push this campaign over the finish line.”

Randy Villegas is a Central Valley native, auto repair shop owner, and a community college professor. Growing up in a working-class immigrant family, Randy worked hard to help his parents make ends meet. Randy’s family relied on the crucial federal programs like WIC and Medicaid that are now in danger of being cut. Randy worked his way out of poverty through education and has dedicated his life to public service. As a local and school board trustee Randy has delivered for working families by standing up for the best interests of our children. As the only Latino and only Democrat on the school board, Randy has worked across the aisle to get things done. Now, Randy is running for Congress to stand up for other hard-working families who he sees falling through the cracks on David Valadao’s watch.
