Randy Villegas Responds to Flood of Dark Money Attack Ads
Kern County, CA – Over the past two weeks, pro-Israel and dark money super PACs have spent millions flooding the airwaves with dishonest attack ads against Randy and his record. In response to these attacks, Randy has issued the following statement:
“My top priority on the School Board has always been the safety and well-being of the school community, and I stand by my record of public service," said Randy Villegas. “It’s sickening to me that Jasmeet Bains and her super PACs would exploit survivors’ trauma and suffering for political gain. For me, that’s way over the line. I strongly believe that anyone who has been harmed or abused in a school setting is entitled to restitution for the pain and trauma caused. We know that the super PACs funding these ads don’t even give a damn about our children and schools. They’re attacking me because I refuse to let our hard earned tax dollars fund endless wars overseas and to a country that has universal healthcare and higher education for all their citizens, when families in our district can't afford groceries and prescription drugs.
BACKGROUND:
Democratic Majority for Israel (DMFI PAC), which has endorsed Jasmeet Bains, is responsible for flooding the district with $500,000 in attack ads. Allied super PAC, New Democratic Majority, is set to spend several hundred thousand more in attacks.
Governor Newsom and the California Legislature extended the look back period for adult survivors of abuse, which has allowed survivors to come forward and seek the closure they need on their own terms. Nearly every school district in the state has dealt with adult survivor cases over the past year.
In a unanimous vote, the Visalia School Board that Randy serves on voted to ensure that an adult survivor who suffered sexual abuse decades ago received redress and closure for the harm and trauma caused.
